Just, a little Aztec

Another gloriously hot weekend – having to hit the 9-5 thought it best to wear a number that could be easily converted to, ahem, “business attire”. Focal point being an appropriate top everything else can be converted……on the road. With that in mind:

I sprung the Aztec (used very loosely) top from Wallie world on the clearance sale – believe it was $2.00 needless to say a host in other colours were also collected. Paired with jeans shorts (swapped from Goodwill), two-tone wedges (Valley Thrift) and Sunny’s (Kroger believe it or not) for a fiver. Fits the perfect errand attire. Switch my short to a black skirt and throw a summer blazer over my top – I become converted for the 9-5.

Back Track

I am really not sure of the rest of the world but for myself I am absolutely loving the heat, personally I think it is far better to be too hot than, freezing cold. In the scorcher of the heat last weekend I had the opportunity to join a mate of mine for a b-day party at the water park. May I dear say what great fun it was; I absolutely had a blast, a flicker of my child summers instantly rushed back to me.

To take the weekend one step further we also had tickets to the race tracks. I love going to the races, horses are truly beautiful animals. Yet, again found memories came to mind as I remember enjoy riding when I was a little girl. Something you never really think about. Well galloping off to the tracks here's my outfit for a rather blistering and hot day.

My blue clutch makes yet another appearance, I am absolutely in love with it. One of my best accessories and necessities for the summer, it goes so well with everything. It was the perfect arm candy for khaki shorts and a vibrant top. Topped off with my deck  shoes I was certainly ready for the heat to come my way.

Matinee’

What to expect when your expecting………………..Was not what I was expecting at all. Not meaning to spoil it for anyone, for me, it was not your hilariously (fall out your seat) RamCom. While having a fairly interesting storyline to captivate your interest it slightly dragged for a tad bite. Despite my view of the movie here is what I put together for the Matinee’.

The top I scooped up in a sideline stall in Leeds Markets a few summers ago. Never knock the notion of purchasing apparel in the marketplace. With such a statement top I could have gone with black shorts for a classy casual look. However as I was being all the way casual I opted for jeans shorts, boat shoes (I really, really like my ‘decks’) and a statement clutch instead. Although, it is different shades of blue (top, short, shoes, clutch) with complementary colour accessories (green earrings, white bracelets, watch) it syncs all together making it a relaxing piece for a rather hot day.

A touch of gold

Ah yes, dinner parties –while great fun and usually bubbles of laughter. With really good mates it’s a grantee to have a great and wonderful evening. Some dinner parties setting clearly define the attire for the evening a house environment screams comfortable, outside of that either whispers classy/elegant or bellows posh-dosh. With no defined setting a hurricane of destruction passed through my closets with piles of clothes, hangers, and other bits and bobs left behind in its path. All on the base of wanting to wear the color “gold”, my motive to wear gold was not fueled by the need to give my new clutch a test run but rather the need to wear something that screamed classy, elegant, bold – a mellow tone between a whisper and a scream.

I know I wanted to be adorned in gold – I don’t know why, its not your typical pick of the mill. I don’t recall where I got this top – but not only was it the right colour but also the right style for an elegant comfy piece. Along with my ever so chic capri’s that has the illusion of a skirt, highlighted with black wedges along with my sleek looking clutch. The complete look was absolutely perfect for what I wanted to achieve.

Oops, I racked it in...... O_O

With a few hours to kill before hitting the sack, a host of blog posts to do, catch-up on my favourite bloggers, snacking on pretzel crisps and indulging in jasmine ice-tea (yum, yum). Why not explore what I have collected over the last couple of weeks……………you guessed it a haul.

There has been the absolute need to collect a few bits and bobs – top of the hit list was the body shop sounding a bit strange I find that they do the best bar soaps. Well, that was the initial purchase (O_O guilty look). Thereafter, due to earth day I mustard up a few more bars, uhmmmmm...... African salt scrub, a tea tree mask and seaweed moisturizer.

Then, the wonderful world of Macy’s had a "friends and family" sale with a voucher in hand I thought it was a essential to stock up on my Clinique clarifying lotion, whilst there rummaging around the bags I snagged this beautiful, rich and vibrant clutch. Perfect accessory for a dinner I have coming up shortly, at 8 dollars absolute bargain.

Perhaps, the best of them all Conway …………..let me take a moment……………..Oh, I love, love, love their stuff. Focus, which I had to constantly remind myself while I was in the store. I picked up a few ‘knick/naps’ as well as two lovely hand bags (purses?) my everyday bag was drifting away slowly (painful death). I decided to add a pop of colour to my life with this vibrant purple. Speaking, off vibrant I really did like the shades and tints of blue a great accessory for the jeans I grabbed at the gap. An encounter I am far to embarrassed to relay – basically there was an unbelievable sale of all knit wear for 99cents and slightly damaged jeans. I am ashamed to admit how many I picked up.

I now dwindle on to finish snacking and submerge into pointless tele, spark my interest in a few reads before bed.“xoxo Dye” clearly far to many episodes of gossip girl, already :D.

Lets Triangulate

So, at the start of the week I had the opportunity to go the circus with a mate of mine. Fairing looking like dumbo as I have felt quit frumpy lately I was able to piece (literally) a few things together. Rather challenging if you ask me, it is that time of the year where it is warm in the afternoon and rather cool in the evening – extremely frustrating not only for me but my closet as well. Mother Nature indirectly has triangulated a love hate relation ship. Anyway despite the nature calls here’s what I came up with:

I absolutely love this skirt – although it is a maternity wear it is a great fit. May I just say when thrifting thinking outside the box, having a little foresight is essential. A LBT (little black top) and grey cardigan and white accessories adds a little flare to the outfit overall; along with a stylish clutch I am more than ready for the show. Absolutely wonderful performance it was indeed.

Softly Coral

Having the most challenging week – I am grateful that Sunday was fun filled with the warmth of family and friends, particularly on such a joyous occasion.

That being said searching the ancient ruins of my closet look for that gem. It has been so busy that everything is a tip and a mess. Despite my disorganisation I was able to pull this number together.

Coral is my favoured colour for the season – in fact the obsession started last summer and has resurrected again. I made this skirt last summer sadly as I did it so late I was only able to wear it once before it shifted to cooler weather. As coral is a soft bold - I find white offers a balance. Paired a ruffled top,  gold pumps and a statement belt does the trick.

Simple Pleasures......

Today certainly this AM is very much a lazy day morning – ever so often everyone needs a day just to lounge. I am in desperate need of just that.

Spending the time to catching up on “blogsphere” blogger, googlereader and bloglovin; Of course I am putting my own thoughts together for my current post as well. First I though just cozy but I am doing a bit more than that. With the aroma of French vanilla, and Pandora blasting in the background surfing though a few posts and flicking through the March issue of Instyle it is simply delightful. Personally, I am a Glamour girl I do enjoy the publication. However, I wanted to know the ins and outs of Spring 2012  although there has been splashes of this and that in the blogshere and online; I do to feel a few pages between my fingers every now and then.  Needless to say giving the mood I am as “Plain Jane” as I possibly could be.

Hmmm, at least for a moment I do need to run out for a lunch with my best mate – it appears purple is the theme. Rummaging through my twisted colour wheel closet I was able to smash this combo together.

I purchased this shrug towards the end of summer last year (the love of a clearance rack – priceless). Unfortunately, I was unable to wear as it got cold so quickly – while it is nice it just needed a little ….... spark an elongated pearl necklace did the trick. It certainly, made a difference to an ordinary Plain Jane look.

Oh Snap*

It’s been exciting and trying the last couple of days, being pulled in far too many directions. Thankfully, there is always fashion for inspiration, creativity, motivation and of course expression. Then again, there is also the simply joy of an early delivery :].  Although the latter is great the former is better - there is always the best of both too.

New toy: arrived early - Thanks to SDR (Saturday Delivery)

Jumper: Goodwill | Trousers: Village Goodwill
I loved this outfit so much I  did it twice within a 7 day time span due to a laundry over lap :).

This ensemble was put together with the jumper being the statement piece. Snatched at the Goodwill a few weeks ago; I absolutely adore the palette of a basic base and statement diamond pattern. Very much my style….inspired by way to much late night telly watching The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. As quirky as Carlton was I did love his dance *snap/snap* I was supper happy on the day I got my new toy, I very well could have done it myself. Nevertheless, my unique jumper tailored with New York and Company navy blue trousers, ballet flats, and the right accessories offers the right *snap* appeal.

Hand candy: Gifted | Watch and Earrings: St Vincent de Paul | Belt: Village Discount

At the base

It is just about 2 in the morning instead of catching a few zee's I am up putting pen to paper (not literally); with a full day in front of me and my brain ticking over time. I can only but wonder what will the course of the day be like and what to wear.

With a networking event in the early afternoon it is always a tad bit tricky to relay confidence but not over sell ones self, a balancing act of a sort. First time networking events (depending on the audience) is always a bit like an interview or initiation of a sort. Fearing all unpredictability there is no reason not to look remotely fabulous for a very wintry day.

Cuff: Gifted | Top and Trousers: Primarni |
Cardigan: Goodwill | Barrette: Block party

With it being so cold I immediately gravitated to a turtle neck with thick trousers. I love that you can use two base colours and intertwine them without looking daunting. Grey and black tend to be those colours that offers endless versatility. To add a flare as well as complement the outfit bold and coloured accessories can were added.

Spotted

For a while I toyed with the idea of titling this post spotted D*ck. Before you hit the roof in anger or bend down in laughter, often it goes either way. There is an actually British treat with the said name, read about it here. On the day I took these pics I did feel like a bit of a fruit cake and with poke-a-dots on my back certainly adds to my creative, literal thinking. Surely, there are other reasonings behind my thinking and I opted to go in another direction, phew.

Most recently, I have been having a feel for black on black, with black and a spot of colour? Don’t ask me why suddenly happened, seems like overnight almost. Embracing my new found craving I embraced this little number.

Cardigan - Thrifted;Black shirt - Old Navy; Pants - Nicked; Watch - Thrifted

Draped in my craze with a boost of girlie blah (pink and white poke-a-dots); White accents (earrings / watch) makes the best little combo.

Basically Creative

Creativity seems to be endless with staple pieces. Having to attend a theater production with my mate, I thought it best to be defined but not over or understated. If this approach is at all possible nevertheless visually here is what I came up with.
Polo: Unknown | Lace Top: Primark | Jeans: Primark | Boots: Hounslow High Street | Bag: Goodwill

Adding a slight fringe to a long-sleeved polo can make a huge difference on the eye. It seems to add a slight girly effect with a touch, just a touch of elegance. I got this top ages ago….. I want to say 4 years, its just been sitting in the closet. On a recent haulage – of a sort our love was rekindled :). Along with my first pair of skinny jean, my infamous bargain boots and bag (purchased from the Goodwill for $6.00, original $17.00.), the white (along side shades of blue) right accessories. Forms a stunning master piece.

Popping Trainers

While, these shoes were made for walking they certainly were not done at the moment of time - with a long car ride ahead. There was the need to be comfortable; fortunately a rather warm day in January – as considered by the methodologist. I opted for comfy bottoms and a cozy top – with a rather plain palette I felt the need for a pop of colour. These trainers purchased at an Adidas Tent sale at the beginning of fall did just that; topped with a few basic accents i.e. white watch, hand candy, trendy scarf and my new toy perfect road trip essentials.

Trainers: Adidas Tent Sale

Top: Village Discount, Bottoms: Dominica, Scarf: Yard Sale

Watch: Thrifted, Beaded Bracelet: Village Discount, Bracelet: Gifted
New Toy - Whopee!!

The list in short: upping the dosage on H2o, Drivers license – done well kinda, permit achieved practical test to be done, healthier diet (list is subject to change for better or worst :D throughout the year). Note to self futher reviews 2012 goals achievements.

Gold Dust

The dawn of 2012 has been welcoming and glorious to say the least. Last night I took a minute to reflect upon 2011. While it was eventful it also had it trials and tribulations to say the least. I suppose anything worth having should entails those factors i.e. the trials and tribulations.

This time last year I was counting down the days, as time was more than precious to complete what I dedicated my life too, that is, the book as I like to call it or formally known as my dissertation. Now, while I will like to recant the glorious ins and outs of that process I rather save a little for the history books – fugitively speak of course.

Therefore, with the dawn of 2012 in front of me I felt the need to be: easy, breezy and carefree. Meeting with a few mates for dinner was just the way to do that. Here’s the little number I pieced together for the night.

Shrug: TradeEx, Basic White Top:  Walmart

Trousers: Village Discount, Boots: Hounslow High Street

Wanting to have a bit of sparkle but not over the top (after all it was a house gathering) I was able to adorn a simple with top with my brown/gold shrug of a sort. I was able to grab this TradeEx for a quid, at the time I thought what can I do with it, but it sure is cute :) (any rational for a purchase is better than non at all). With my upper half covered everything else just seemed to fall into place. Brown stripped pant (enough room for eats – check) Tan boots (cozy comfortable and warm – check). Time piece for the count down and a few simple piece – “viola”!
