Popping Trainers

While, these shoes were made for walking they certainly were not done at the moment of time - with a long car ride ahead. There was the need to be comfortable; fortunately a rather warm day in January – as considered by the methodologist. I opted for comfy bottoms and a cozy top – with a rather plain palette I felt the need for a pop of colour. These trainers purchased at an Adidas Tent sale at the beginning of fall did just that; topped with a few basic accents i.e. white watch, hand candy, trendy scarf and my new toy perfect road trip essentials.

Trainers: Adidas Tent Sale

Top: Village Discount, Bottoms: Dominica, Scarf: Yard Sale

Watch: Thrifted, Beaded Bracelet: Village Discount, Bracelet: Gifted
New Toy - Whopee!!
The start of the year has been extremely eventful already and it has only been week one. Although I did not set resolutions officially; there are goals achievements I hope will work towards in 2012. The list in short: upping the dosage on H2o, Drivers license – done well kinda, permit achieved practical test to be done, healthier diet (list is subject to change for better or worst :D throughout the year). Note to self futher reviews 2012 goals achievements.

Gold Dust

The dawn of 2012 has been welcoming and glorious to say the least. Last night I took a minute to reflect upon 2011. While it was eventful it also had it trials and tribulations to say the least. I suppose anything worth having should entails those factors i.e. the trials and tribulations.

This time last year I was counting down the days, as time was more than precious to complete what I dedicated my life too, that is, the book as I like to call it or formally known as my dissertation. Now, while I will like to recant the glorious ins and outs of that process I rather save a little for the history books – fugitively speak of course.

Therefore, with the dawn of 2012 in front of me I felt the need to be: easy, breezy and carefree. Meeting with a few mates for dinner was just the way to do that. Here’s the little number I pieced together for the night.

Shrug: TradeEx, Basic White Top:  Walmart

Trousers: Village Discount, Boots: Hounslow High Street

Wanting to have a bit of sparkle but not over the top (after all it was a house gathering) I was able to adorn a simple with top with my brown/gold shrug of a sort. I was able to grab this TradeEx for a quid, at the time I thought what can I do with it, but it sure is cute :) (any rational for a purchase is better than non at all). With my upper half covered everything else just seemed to fall into place. Brown stripped pant (enough room for eats – check) Tan boots (cozy comfortable and warm – check). Time piece for the count down and a few simple piece – “viola”!

Be Bold

In the heart of the holiday festivities – and still being inspired by ForStyleSake – Santa Baby Christmas Challenge.

Here is my latest composition for a festive event.

Dress: El Caribe | Blazer: Village Discount

Brooch: Random Woman | Necklace: Village Discount

Clutch: Pound Store | Bracelet: Village Discount

Shoes: Charity Shop

Ok! Here is the run down I grabbed this dress whilst on holiday in the Caribbean a few years ago. This bold and yet so so bright blazed as well as the hand bracelet were purchased from the lovely Village Discount. While my shoes…… oh the shoes are a Marks and Sparks limited edition; were snagged from TradeEx last summer. Unfortunately, I don’t get to wear them as much as they are bold statement pieces that should be well coordinated. The brooch was sold to me on the tube by a random woman who needed directs, I was returning home from said, what a great year. The unique
clutch was bought at a Pound store believe it or not!

BooT Trick

While I am not a huge winter fan – I don’t mind the cold as long as I am not only wrapped up. Correction, bundled up - literally from head to toe. That being said I generally purchase my boots a size up to allow space for cozy socks. This then presents an extra space in the calf area. Therefore, to combat this problem is a trusty pair of leg warmers.

With it being slightly cold but not blistering I was able to compose this slightly berry outfit. Why yet another berry outfit? Blame it on ForStyleSake needless to say I was inspired perhaps over inspired but here is the Recap.

Tank Top & Leggings - Primarni
Knit Top: Village Discount | Scarf: Gifted
Boots: Shop Hounslow
Bag: Goodwill

Bangles: Craft Fair

This outfit is understated but yet so bold in its own right. Tank Top and leggings are simply the atmosphere brand. The knitted top was snatched at Village Discount. The boots were a steal from a random shop in Hounslow High Street for 10 quid last winter. I wanted a Dooney & Bourke bag for ages. I was finally able grab to this from Goodwill for 5 bucks, originally 10. Finally, the bangles were purchased from craft fairs for 2-3 bucks.

Certainly, a great combination for a slight wintery day!

Just Berry!

Wow! November has certainly flown by…….hmmm makes me wonder where 2011 has really gone. Been a  strange year to say the least.

With December upon us just about everyone is in the Christmas swing of things.  I can’t say I am with them really. .... However, having a rummage on Forstylesake’s blog, I am intrigued to participate in their competition. Here’s my first attempt embracing the Green, Berry and Gold colour palette.

Top & Knit: Village Discount | Trousers: Charity Shop

Boots: Tesco | Bag: Marks and Sparks
Hand bracelet: France | Watch: Village Discount

Pendent: Village Dscount

This was such a comfy number – I absolutely love the concept of the berry peeking out at the top and bottom of the knit. On top of skinny corduroys- I so use to think corduroys were grandpa trousers but they are so comfy and feel great in the cold weather. I really love my black ankle boots got them last winter at Tesco's for a tenner (bargain). As for the accessories I snapped my bag up last winter at Marks and Sparks for about 30 quid. My “D” initial hand bracelet was purchased in Calais at a Random Shop. The best for last, my pendent is the cuties thing ever - for a mere $0.45 its just fab!

Sure Thing!

I recently had to attend a friend’s family function and I suddenly came down ID-HATW (I Don’t Have Anything To Wear) syndrome. Surely, there is a cure for this; in times of need or rather being indecisive basics will always do the trick.  Therefore I retreated to elegant and classic BLACK.
I absolutely love this blazer whilst I have a few in my wardrobe this Apt 9 (actually it the brand that caught my attention in the store) is by far my most favourite, everything about it is just “fab” from its slightly puckered sleeves to its oh so soft velvet fabric. Given the current weather conditions trousers were more than a safe bet. That being said fearing looking like a back-up singer (hahaha) I incorporated a classic white top with ruffle detail. Topped off with black rose earrings and pearl hand bracelet.

An elegantly classic look

White top with ruffle detail

Perfection at its best and certainly a cure for IDHATW.

Another Step on the Road of Life

They say (don’t ask me who) with age comes wisdom. Personally, I say experience brings insight. I suppose they could be one of the same depending how it is viewed. I had the golden opportunity to grace the world with yet another year of life. Given pass experiences it is a blessing.

The day started out as any other really; at that stage I thought oh dear this will be a boring uneventful day. But, in the end, certainly after the 9-5, it was far from boring or uneventful.

So to mark the day a few good mates came over for a meal. On the Menu Pizza,  Curry chicken with a twist and B-day cake with ice cream, yum yum.

Appetizer:  Pizzas - pepperoni, meat supreme, vegetable and basil (this sounds weird but it was really good)

Main: Coconut milk curry chicken with white rice (*note to self post recipe at some stage).
Dessert: B-day cake minus ice cream for me as I just can't eat the stuff

Given that it was a small gathering at home (10 pax) the attire was pretty simple slightly faded blue jeans, tank top, ¼ sleeve cardigan with flower embroidery detailed and star studded earrings.

Top: tank , ¼ sleeve cardigan

Cardigan:  flower embroidery detailed
Bottom: Faded blue jeans

 Accessories: star studded earrings

Simply put a wonderful and enjoyable day!!!
